Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Sightline, a recruiting platform operated by Sightline Sports Systems ("Sightline," "we," "us," or "our") that delivers verified, real-time athlete statistics to athletes, families, travel programs, and college coaches across web, iOS, and Android (the "Service").

Which version applies to you. The version of these Terms that governs your account is the version in effect on the date you registered your account, unless you continue using the Service after a later version takes effect (see Section 14), in which case the later version applies going forward.

By creating an account, you must affirmatively agree to the version of these Terms in effect at that time by checking the consent box presented at registration. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service.

1. Eligibility & Account Roles

Sightline supports the following account types, each with a different scope of access:

• Parent / Athlete — a parent, guardian, or athlete creating a recruiting profile. Access: their own athlete(s) only.
• Travel Coach — a coach affiliated with a travel/club program. Access: their program's athletes.
• Club Director — the administrator of a travel/club organization. Access: their entire organization.
• College Coach / Scout — a coach or recruiter affiliated with a college athletic program. Access: the verified athlete search database.
• College Staff — staff reporting to a college head coach. Access: shared access under their head coach.

You must accurately represent who you are. If you register as a College Coach, Scout, or College Staff, you must provide your actual affiliated university or athletics program — generic, non-institutional, or unverifiable entries (such as a field of study, a department name, or a placeholder) are not acceptable. If you register as a Travel Coach or Club Director, you must accurately represent your affiliated program. Creating an account under a false identity, false organizational affiliation, or false role is a material breach of these Terms.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account in your own name and act as a Parent, Travel Coach, Club Director, College Coach, or College Staff user. Athlete profiles for minors must be created and controlled by a parent or legal guardian, as described in Section 6.

We reserve the right to verify any account's claimed identity, role, or affiliation at any time, and to suspend or delete an account pending or following that verification, as described in Section 8.

2. The Verification Chain

Sightline's core function is delivering verified statistics, not self-reported ones. A statistic moves through the following process before it is visible to college coaches:

• Capture — a parent or athlete logs game statistics.
• Submission — the statistic is recorded in a pending, unverified state.
• Verification — a credentialed travel coach or club director reviews, corrects if necessary, and approves or rejects the submission.
• Publication — only upon approval does the statistic count toward the athlete's totals and appear in the searchable database available to college coaches.

By using the Service, you acknowledge that verification reflects the judgment of the verifying coach or director and is not independently audited by Sightline; that Sightline does not guarantee the accuracy of any statistic, verified or unverified; and that unverified statistics are visible only to the submitting family and the verifying program, never appearing in the searchable database.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Create an account using a false name, false role, false organizational affiliation, or impersonate another person or organization.
• Submit, verify, or approve statistics you know to be false or materially inaccurate.
• Use the Service to harass, intimidate, or send unwelcome or inappropriate communications to any athlete, parent, coach, or other user — particularly communications directed at minors.
• Attempt to access another user's account, data, or organization without authorization.
• Scrape, crawl, or bulk-extract data from the platform outside of the features Sightline provides.
• Use the recruiter portal, search tools, or contact features for purposes unrelated to legitimate athletic recruiting.
• Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, defamatory, obscene, or that violates another person's privacy or rights, including content involving minors that is inappropriate, exploitative, or unrelated to legitimate athletic activity.
• Resell, sublicense, or provide third-party access to the Service or its data without our written permission.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to circumvent the security or verification mechanisms of the Service.

Violation of this section may result in immediate suspension or termination of your account under Section 8, and may be reported to appropriate authorities where it involves potential harm to a minor.

4. Athlete Profiles & User Content

• Parents/guardians and athletes are responsible for the accuracy of information they submit, including stats, position, grad year, team affiliation, and uploaded media.
• By submitting content, you grant Sightline a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate the Service.
• You retain ownership of your content. Sightline does not sell, rent, or license user content or personal data to advertisers or third-party data brokers.
• You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any video or media you upload.

5. College Coach / Recruiter Access

College Coach and College Staff accounts are granted access to the verified athlete search database, watchlist tools, private scouting notes, and direct messaging with families, subject to the following:

• Access is intended solely for legitimate athletic recruiting purposes connected to a real, verifiable college or university athletics program.
• Private scouting notes are scoped to your program only and are not visible to other programs, athletes, or families.
• Messaging features must be used respectfully and solely for recruiting-related communication.
• Sightline reserves the right to require institutional verification before or after granting recruiter access, and to revoke access at any time if affiliation cannot be confirmed.

Access for verified college programs is provided free of charge, as described on the Sightline pricing page, and is subject to change with notice.

6. Minors & Parental Consent

• Profiles for athletes under 18 must be created and controlled by a parent or legal guardian, who retains the right to review, edit, restrict, or delete the athlete's profile and data at any time.
• We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child without the involvement of a parent or guardian account, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
• Parents/guardians may contact us at any time to request review, correction, or deletion of their athlete's data (see Section 13).
• We encourage parents to monitor any messages received by their athlete through the platform from recruiters or coaches.

7. Subscriptions, Pricing & Payment

• Families — Free: athlete profile creation, unlimited stat logging, coach verification, and appearance in college coach search, at no cost.
• Families — Premium: a paid monthly or annual subscription adding visibility into which colleges viewed an athlete's profile, coach messaging, expanded video storage, and an "Open to Contact" badge.
• Travel Programs: a paid monthly or annual subscription per program for unlimited team/roster management, coach verification tools, tournament scheduling, and messaging.
• College Coaches: free for verified college programs.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate unless canceled before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and no long-term contract is required. Payment processing is handled by a third-party, PCI-compliant payment processor — Sightline does not directly receive, store, or log your full payment card information.

8. Account Suspension, Banning & Termination

We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently delete any account, at our sole discretion, including but not limited to circumstances where:

• The account was created with false identity, role, or organizational information (e.g., a fabricated university affiliation).
• The account has engaged in harassment, fraud, impersonation, or other conduct prohibited under Section 3.
• The account poses a risk to the safety or privacy of minors on the platform.
• We are unable to verify a claimed institutional or organizational affiliation upon request.

Where we determine an account was created in bad faith, we may also bar the associated email address from creating future accounts. We are not obligated to provide advance notice before taking action under this section where doing so would frustrate its purpose — for example, in cases of suspected fraud or risk to a minor.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SIGHTLINE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Sightline does not guarantee that any athlete will be discovered, contacted, or recruited by a college program; the accuracy of statistics submitted or verified by third-party users; or continuous, uninterrupted, or error-free operation of the Service.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SIGHTLINE AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. SIGHTLINE'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SIGHTLINE, IF ANY, IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sightline, its founders, and operators from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content you submit.

12. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information, including data about minors, is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. We do not sell, rent, or license personal data or athletic profiles to advertisers or data brokers.

13. Data Access, Correction & Deletion

You may request access to, correction of, or permanent deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@sightlineapp.us. Parents/guardians may make this request on behalf of a minor athlete's profile.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Each update will carry its own effective date. Continued use of the Service after a new version's effective date constitutes acceptance of that version; otherwise, your account remains governed by the version in effect on your original registration date.

15. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which you, the account holder, reside at the time of the dispute, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are a parent or guardian creating a profile on behalf of a minor athlete, your state of residence — not the athlete's — controls. Sightline does not currently operate outside the United States.
